'Patang,' 'Splinters' win Hawaii fest honours
India-U.S. co-production "Patang," a household drama occur Ahmedabad by helmer Prashant Bhargava, has stated the Halekulani Golden Orchid Award for narrative feature in the 31st Hawaii Worldwide Film Festival. Adam Pesce's "Splinters," a Papua New Guinea-U.S. co-production about surfing and culture clashes inside a Papuan New Guinea village, got the Golden Halekulani Award for documentary. The Network for that Promotion of Asian Cinema award was given to helmer Ruslan Pak for his Columbia-Uzbekistan drama "Hanaan." Honours were introduced in a reception at Washington House, residence of Hawaii governor Abercrombie. Operating inside the Hawaii fest, sidebar event EuroCinema Hawaii passed out its gongs March. 15. The Princess Dialta Alliata di Montereale for the best feature was stated by "We have to Discuss Kevin," with helmer Lynn Ramsey and lead Tilda Swinton also receiving trophies. Peter Mullan was named best actor for his role in Paddy Considine's Irish pic "Tyrannosaur." "Pa'ahanna" by Lang Dang required a student film award.
